What is Filipino adobo?

Not to be confused with Spanish adobo sauce, Filipino adobo is a cooking method of marinating and stewing meat in a mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, and spice. While chicken adobo is the most well-known version, any meat (or no meat) can be used.

There are many varieties of the dish, coming from different histories, cultural influences, and regions all over the Philippines. However, the most popular recipes have some combination of soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaves, black pepper, garlic, and protein.

What is TDEE?

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimate of calories a person burns each day. TDEE is typically found by taking a person's Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and applying a multiplier based on daily activity (ex. working out).

This meal-generator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor formula for determining BMR and Katch-Mcardle activity multipliers to get the final TDEE.
